Summer Outfit Inspo

Summer's approaching fast and we all need to stock up on the must-haves of the season. This post can be seen as an extension of the previous post about the trends for the upcoming season. In the previous post we took a look at what it was that designers put forth for the Fashion Week, in this post however we'll discuss how we can incorporate those trends in our wardrobes plus some other essentials. This post is plainly a walk through some of the fashion principles most of us abide by, to form a range of safe and convenient outfits.

So, cargoes were a huge part of the Fashion Week and are also a comfortable option for hot summer days with their baggy fit, getting a couple in various colors would make it a lot easier to put together an outfit during a major fashion brain freeze. Mini skirts were seen in various outfits of the Chanel show, and let's be honest, miniskirts are one of the best things about summers. Throw on a basic tank or tube top with a miniskirt and you're good to go! Other ways of incorporating the trends in your outfits are through adding some chunky jewelry to your outfit or maybe a touch of neon or a crochet piece of clothing. My favorite trend was of course the gilded age era brought back. Though it is too over the top for our casual fits, it can easily be incorporated through corset/bustier tops. Now having covered the 'trend' part of it we'll get to the inspiration part of this. The main motive of this post is to help you power through a "fashion brain freeze", in the words of the great Lorelai Gilmore.

Don't we hate it when an outfit seems great in our heads but when we actually try it on it is the most unflattering thing ever? To avoid these are a few basic pieces of clothing that are handy for putting together an outfit under a minute. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of statement pieces but here are some basics that are vital if you are on the go a lot or just too lazy to put together an outfit. Plain basic tops ranging from boxy, oversized, crop, tube and tank in a variety of colors is essential for the summers as layering is just not possible. Plus, it'd come handy to own a couple of summer blazers as well, it works wonders to put together an otherwise incomplete outfit. As for bottoms, pants in various fits and hues, not too many but adding in a little brown, beige, lavender or pink along with the basic black and blue would do wonders for your wardrobe. And skirts, SKIRTS, mini, midi, maxi, A-line and pencil, STOCK UP. Of course, having the staples can be more than enough, but its summer a splash of color and some bright prints would hurt no body. Get some summer dresses too while you are at it, great for when you can't muster enough energy to put together an outfit.

Also, here are some color combinations that you can never go wrong with:

Beige+ White/Black

Navy Blue+ Beige

Baby Blue+ Black/White

Pink (pastel)+ Black/White

Brown+ Beige

I find monochrome outfits to be an absolute no-no for the summers, black and white are also not on the list because I feel that black is too harsh of a color to go with white.

Anyways, hope this little guide prevents you from committing a fashion faux pas when you don't know what to wear.
