Fashion week has officially begun! Seven shows took place in NYC on the first day of fashion week i.e., September 8. The Ralph Lauren show took place at 7:00 PM and it is safe to say that it was a success.
The show started off with an array of outfits consisting of faded denims and printed florals in corset tops, blazers and low waist narrow- fitted trousers. Next came a collection of white paired with a slightly milder hue of blue in flowy skirts and tops. The collection also consisted of metallic gold pieces and elegant black outfits. The colour scheme of the entire collection mainly revolved around green, white, blue, grey and bold shades of purple and green. Almost every single outfit of the collection was accessorized with layered necklaces, large dangly earring, and strappy heels. Micro handbags did not make an appearance on the runway. In their place, models carried the Ralph Lauren 888 Box Calfskin Top handbag in various colours.
Evaluating the looks, one can make a fair guess about what trends to expect for the upcoming season. As far as this show goes, almost every look consisted of fringe, layered necklaces, dangly earrings and unnecessary belts with chunky buckles. Many models sported oversized shirts in bold shades of purple, red and green. Even though the collection was largely dominated by low waist, narrow fitted pants, wide leg also made an appearance. Other trends that come to mind are sheer clothing, satin skirts, halter neck tops and no, miniskirts made no appearance, skirt lengths ranged from knee length to maxi and floor length.
