The creative director of the French fashion house, Chanel, was one of the best well-known faces in the fashion industry as well as the most respected. Karl Lagerfeld was loved by models, interns and fellow designers, his memory is cherished by all those who knew him and all those who followed and enjoyed his work.
Chanel flourished under him, so much that Vogue recently published a tribute in his memory, of course he was also a close friend of Anna Wintour who herself wrote a heartfelt piece on Karl Lagerfeld, ‘Life Itself’, as part of Vogue’s celebration of Karl Lagerfeld. The entire series had three segments; namely, Karl Lagerfeld: A Celebration, Karl & Me- Amanda Harlech remembers Karl Lagerfeld and Life Itself: Vogue’s Grand Tribute to Karl. Imagine the power he held to dominate an entire issue of Vogue after his death.
The tribute itself had comments from personalities such as Balmain, Gucci, Versace, Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren and Claudia Schiffer who reminisced about their time with Karl and shared fond memories of him. Karl Lagerfeld, like all the other dreamers and artists of the world will continue to live through his work and the legacy he left behind.
